Living with Seasons: How to Spring to life!

Can you feel it in the air? A freshness, a wave of possibility, new beginnings, and the gentle buzzing of birdsong?

The equinox blessed us with its arrival on the 20th March 2021, which means one thing… we are now in the delightful season that is Spring!!

What is the Spring equinox?

Also known as the vernal equinox it signifies the beginning of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, and for those of you who are astrology lovers, it welcomes the powerful astrological season of the Ram: Aries! This is also my sun sign, hehe.

For those of you who didn’t know, it is also the start of the new astrological year, and because of this, it’s the perfect time to get clear on what new beginnings you want to bring in, and to set into motion any plans, projects and new habits that you’d like to create for the rest of the year. January isn't the only time to create new intentions!

How to get the most out of this gorgeous season:

According to Ayurveda (the ancient yogic medicine system) it is the perfect time

to cleanse your physical body There is more information on how to do this here: https://www.yogajournal.com/lifestyle/health/ayurveda/ayurveda-101-spring-cleanse/

But, simply increasing your water intake, as well as your intake of seasonal fresh vegetables and fruits will give your whole system an enlivening boost! You can also find a list of seasonal vegetables here: https://vegsoc.org/cookery-school/blog/seasonal-uk-grown-produce/

Take out some time and space to spring clean! Get rid of your old things to make way for the new energy that Spring brings with it. When you let go of the old, it makes room for the new to enter. I often find when I spring clean my physical life, I’m also making space in my emotional and spiritual life for newness to bloom.

Get your hair cut! I’ve always thought of haircuts as symbolic – on the one hand you’re letting go of your older appearance for a new one, but energetically you are also clearing old, tired experiences for newer, fresher ones. If you’re hoping to let go of a toxic attachment this Spring cut your hair intentionally.

How to do this:

- Get clear on what attachment you want to let go of

- Write down, or say out loud: “With my hair cut I release [insert thing here]”

- Visualise that attachment being released with love

- Then make sure you get your hair cut!

Invite freshness in by exploring what new things you’d like to bring into your life. You can journal, or create a vision board…

Explore the outdoors, or bring the outdoors inside… crack a window open will ya love!

So there we go… some tips on how to make the most out of Spring.

In love, health and wellness.
